❤love you, spikey mike❤

Hi guys! 👋

I am back from Bright and I wanted to let you guys know about what happened to me and my brother’s guinea pig, Marshmallow. (I did a post: 🥬Meet my guinea pigs!🥬)

We nicknamed her Spikey Mike because of the little spike on the top of her head (my cousins found this funny). 😊

I have been putting off this post for weeks because I knew it would be hard. ❤

One day, probably a week before we left for Bright, I picked up Marshmallow and I noticed that there was like a lump where her chin was and she had like a runny nose.

I didn’t think that it was normal so I showed my mum, dad and brother and they didn’t think much of it. 🤔

I said to my mum that we should take her to the vet to get it checked out. 🏥

We weighed her to see if she was underweight from not eating and she was 300g over her normal weight!

The lump must of been very heavy for her.

Mum booked the vet and we took Marsh to the vet.

The vet thought the lump could be a cyst or maybe cancer, but they didn’t really know.

They tried to drain the lump and it didn’t work that well.

They also gave us some antibiotics to try and treat the runny nose.

My Oma (Dutch for grandmother) was going to look after the piggies when we went away for Bright, but we didn’t want to burden her with looking after a sick Marshy, because with the antibiotics, there was a risk that she would stop eating and then have to be force fed, so we decided we would have to bring her to Bright with us.

A few days later, we dropped off Clover (our second piggy) at Oma’s and then the next day we left for Bright.

She did really well on the loooooong car ride to Bright, which was good. 👏👏

This year we stayed in the same cabin as we did last year (that’s why I didn’t do a holiday hour tour).

Bright was soooooooo fun!! 😁

We went trout fishing! 🎣 (we’ll ignore that me and one of my cousins were the only one’s who didn’t catch any…)

We went on lots of bike rides! 🚲

Everyone was so nice and gentle to Marshy while we were at Bright. 😁

Marsh did well on the car ride back home. 🚗

By then it had been about a week, so we stopped give Marshy her antibiotics.

I noticed that she still had a runny nose and the lump looked a lot bigger than it had before we’d left for Bright..

So on the 31st of Jan we took Marsh to the vet again and they didn’t give us good news. 🙁

Marsh would have to be put down the next day. 😭

They also said if she had trouble breathing mum would need to take her to the 24 hour emergency vet.

By then she couldn’t even really walk around or lift her head because the lump was so big.

We couldn’t be selfish and keep her just for our pleasure.

On her last day we spoiled her with apple juice, carrot, lettuce, grain, grass and all her favourite foods. 🍎🥕🥬🐹

I said goodnight to her and went to bed quite late. 🕛

At probably 2am mum woke me and my brother, telling us that Marsh was having trouble breathing and mum would have to take her to the 24 hour emergency vet. 😭

We had to say goodbye in just a few minutes because we didn’t want her to suffer.

Mum took her and I cried… I ended up going to sleep at like 5am that night.

Rest In Peace Marshy. ❤

Rest In Peace Spikey Mike. ❤

See her ADOREABLE spike? *spikey mike* 😍

This was when she was sick 😢
This was when she was sick also 😢

We planted a spikey-ish flower plant in honour of Spikey Mike. ❤

Thanks so much for reading this post guys!!! 😀

Byeee guys! 👋👋👋

🥬 Meet my guinea pigs! 🥬+ Marsh’s 5th birthday! 🥳

Hey guys! 👋👋

I know I haven’t posted in a while ( *cough* *cough* three months) but I felt there was nothing to post about……

Today I looked in my drafts and saw Meet my guinea pigs! so I thought that sounded fun!🤩

By the way guys, happy first day of summer ☀ and PINCH PUNCH FIRST DAY OF THE MONTH NO RETURNS!!!! 🤏👊

I can’t believe it’s December already! 🎅

Today we are going to set up the Christmas tree!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🎄

OKAY LET’S GET INTO IT YAAAAAAAAAY!!!! 🥳🥳

We got Marshmallow and Destiny (both girls) in I think it was January 2017 for Christmas 2016! 😎

pause…

Happy birthday to Marsh!!!! 🥳

Happy birthday to Maaaaarsh!!! 🥳

Happy birthday dear Marshy!!!! 🥳

Happy biiiirthday toooo yooou!!!! 🥳

Today Marshmallow (Marsh) has turned 5 years old!!! 🥳

We don’t know her exact date of birth, so we made it the 1st of Dec! 🥇

Ok back to the story.. 😁

un-pause…

Me and my bro had been saving up for.. pet rats… 🐀

At my cousins school fete I had held one and loved it! ❤

So we were saving up for 2 little rats, then on Christmas day we unwrapped a smallish wooden hutch/cage… 🤏🏠 and just sat there..

Mum and dad were like guys you’re going to have guinea pigs and we were like oh.. cool… I don’t know why we didn’t jump up and start dancing, but we just didn’t. 🤦‍♀️

I don’t really remember anything else about that Christmas… but I do remember choosing out a piggy! 🐹

We drove to the owners house and there they were: small hutches outside with lots of baby guinea pigs!! 😍

I saw a black baby piggy (the owners let me hold her and i knew this was the pig for me) and chose her, my brother chose a brownish-grey and white striped piggy. ❤❤

Mum and dad payed $20 each for the guinea pigs and then we drove home…..🚘🏡

They were in the basket pictured below and it was filled with hay so they could hide in it to feel safer. 😁

(OK THESE PICS ARE SOOOOOO CUTE!! 😍)

Sadly my piggy, Dest had to be put down in October 2018 (rest in peace, my piggy princess) because she had lots of problems with her teeth that were stopping her from eating (that is very bad for guinea pigs). 😥

After she died we had to think about getting another guinea pig companion for Marsh because guinea pigs always need a friend. 😙

(pics of Dest older 👇)

One day in June 2019 we were going to a farm that you could see and feed the animals. 🐐

At the front area they were selling guinea pigs!! 🐹

We were looking for girl guinea pigs to get for Marsh and there some were! 🥳

After talking it through, we decided to get one! 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳

We decided to get a black one (to honour Dest) and named her Clover. 🍀

When we brought her home I thought that it would be good to take her outside to eat some grass, so I took her outside and sat down……

I used my legs to cage her in, so she wouldn’t esape…….. then she bolted!!

The scared Clover ran through a hole in the front gate, on to the drive way and under the car!!!! 😱

I ran after her, crying and thinking its gonna be my fault that poor guinea pig runs on the road and gets run over by a car!!! (if that happened i would never be able to forgive myself! 😭

My brother came to check on me and saw the outline of a guinea pig under the car……..

He ran to get mum and dad. 🏃‍♂️

After a while of us chasing Clove under the car she ran into the bushes! 😱

It was getting late, starting to get dark and spitting rain.. 🌧

It was my dad’s idea to get a cardboard box that saved Clover from getting lost.

As she ran past, dad put the open part of the box over her and then I scooped her up in my arms. 😅

We didn’t let her meet Marsh until it had been 2 or 3 weeks, so we could see if she had sickness or something that she could spread to Marsh. 🐹

The introduction between Marsh and Clove went really well, and we put them in their brand new cage. 🤏🏠

Still to this day Clove doesn’t really let anyone touch her (she just bolts) but she is a lot better then when we first got her (she wouldn’t even eat when people were around). 🥕

Thanks so much for reading this post an getting to know my guinea pigs!! 🐹

~Inspiring Affirmations~ Week #27

It’s 11:30 at night and I’m writing a blog post. 🥱

I’ll probably post this tomorrow.

I was saying goodnight to mum and then I really wanted to pull a affirmation card. 😊

It just felt right to pull another, then another and another.

My brother pulled some (of his cards, like my owl ones but miracle ones) too and then we ended up with heaps of cards. 🎴🎴

Then I just really wanted to do a post. ⌨

I just felt like writing! 😁

My mum knows writing and that creative-must-write-now-before-this-feeling-goes-away feeling so she let me. 🥳

We have been in lockdown for a few weeks now, and today they announced that playgrounds would be shut the next day. 😢

Why?

This lockdown hadn’t been that bad because everyday we’d been going to the park. 🏞

The kids were laughing and playing. 🤗

It felt normal.

That was basically the only thing that was keeping me sane. 💥

Today it was raining, but it stopped just enough to walk to the park. 🌧

It started raining again as we got there and nobody was there.

The laughing and playing of the kids made the park seem more fun. 🎈

Even walking on the path around the park was more fun with kids dodging you on their bikes. 🚲

Today it was dull. 😑

They also announced that lockdown would be like 2 more weeks. 😭

That meant that my very delayed birthday party won’t be able to be next weekend. 😭

I don’t want to feel sad all the time so I try to stay positive. 😊

So when I pulled the cards they made me feel better – like things are going the way they’re meant too, and something good is going to happen out of all this… 😉

I hope they make you feel better too! 🎉

I also felt like I should show the back of the cards (the part with the musing and affirmation), because normally I only show the front. 👍

I also wanted to show some beautiful pictures of nature. 🌼

Isn’t nature just amazing?! 🤯

It’s nearly spring and the plants are already getting ready! 🌤

How do they know to?!

🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯

Ok guys, it’s 12:40am and I really need to go to bed it’s waaaaayyyy past my bedtime!

Byee!

Potatoes Out,

Namaste! ✌

Sunday Night Routine + beach pics 🏖

Hi guyyyyyyyys! 👋

Today ima do a Sunday Night Routine plus beach pics. 🏖

okay

Yesterday we went to the beach.

All these pics are from yesterday but I typed it out today.

Let’s get started!

First we went for a walk on the beach. 🤩

it looks so tropical!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😁

Sadly we couldn’t swim because thunderstorms from a few days ago made the water unsuitable for swimming. 😥

It was still fun! 🙂

the shells are so pretty!!

After the walk, we sat down on our picnic rug and waited for dad to get CHICKEN AND CHIPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🤤

yum.

While waiting for dad, I took some pics…. 📸

had a nice snack of peaches and nectarines. yummmm!!!

Then the sunny day when to a cloudy, windy, cold day.

in like 2 seconds.

not kidding 🤨

❤ me ❤ me ❤

So the Chicken and Chip’s shop was closed and dad had to go to Woolworths (a grocery shop in Australia) and bought 2 cooked chickens, 2 packets of potato chips and a Greek salad. 🍗🍟🥗

I was really looking forward to having chicken and chips. 😔

So I said we should have the 2 cooked chickens for lunch the next day and how easy it would be to not have to cook lunch omg it would be sooooooooooooo easy mum it would be soooooooooooo easy!!! 😮

The 2 packets of chips…. well one of them had vegetable oil which we avoid at all times. The other one was fine. It had sunflower oil, which is ok a little at a time. I told mum and dad that I would just have a few. We all had a “few”.

It was nice to have a treat. 😍

We left because it was getting stormy.

Three quarters of the chips were gone once we left.

When we got home, my kind dad went to the local Charcoal Chicken (chicken and chip shop) to get chicken and chips. 😊

While dad was gone, we opened the Greek salad.

It had olives.

I’d never tried olives.

They smelt SO BAD.

Well my ‘lil bro said if I tried an olive, I’d get a few chips.

I ran.

No joke. I did.

But then I came back.

I tried an olive and it tasted…

bad.

😟

okkkkkkkk

Dad finally came home with the Chicken and Chips.

We ate outside.

nice santa table cloth. hehe

Sorry guyyysss.

I forgot to take the pic until I was halfway through eating.

hehe…? 😙

i also had coleslaw.

About half an hour later we did Yoga!

We have started doing Breath A 30 day Yoga Journey by Yoga with Adriene. 😁

We were doing Day 2 – ARRIVE.

After yoga, I made dessert. 🍬🍬🍬🍬

It was caramel apples with vanilla banana “nice cream”. 😜

delish!

At about 9:30pm I chopped the guinea pigs food.

Me and my brother take turns doing the piggies food, grain and diffuser.

Then I got dressed into my pajamas.

ohhh yeaa

Then I gave the piggies their grain.

I did the diffuser (while brushing my teeth 🦷).

After that I put moisturiser on my face.

I mix all these creams together and call it..

My Healing Cream.

After that I went to bed.

So guyyys that’s my Sunday night routine.

When I went to the beach.

I hope you enjoyed this post!!! 😄

If you want, comment below if you’ve ever tried olives (and if you like them!).

Also comment down below what your night routine is and what you did this Sunday.

Byeeeee guuuysss!

♡ My piggy princess ♡

2 years ago I cried goodbye to you.
2 years ago I kissed your beautiful head.
2 years ago I let go of you.

2 years ago your sister cried goodbye to you.
2 years ago your sister snuggled close to you, for the last time.
I always knew you were strong; you kept fighting.

2 years ago you lost the fight.
I know you tried.
I know.
It was too much.
You went through so much; but never gave up.

I remember we did a workout.
You were there.
In a box, being brave, like always.
I remember we celebrated when you ate, willingly.
We were grateful that we did not have to force you.
My piggy princess, Destiny, I miss you.

Even though it’s been two years, I will never forget you.
Ever.

I even named you, made your middle name, after a brave woman: Brooke.

These love hearts are for you.

Each heart reprasenting the time we have spent apart.

Little me and Brookie.

Brookie, 4 years ago I said “I love you” and squeezed your hand.

4 years ago I woke up to find that dad was not home. Mum had been away for quite a few days, at the hospital. Oma was there, sleeping. I wet the bed. Then, not knowing the reason why. It’s as if my body knew the future. I got up to change. I woke up Oma. Embarrased to say the reason why I had gotten up. I wondered why Oma was sleeping in my brother’s bed. We were sleeping in mum and dad’s. Oma told me that dad had gone to the hospital.

4 years ago we drove to the hospital. Mum tired. My cousin and uncle tired. Brookie pale, not her self.

4 years ago we played. The nurses, so kind. Letting us do things, like using the meeting room, we wouldn’t normally do. Us kids, we played. It kept Brookie’s son happy. Us happy. Ice cream, iceypoles, crafts.

4 years ago I remember the scream. Mum hoping to stop it. Stop her from leaving us. Forever.

4 years ago I remember the tears, howls. I made a glove. Filled with the tissues, friends and family cried their tears in. I couldn’t cry. It couldn’t be real. It couldn’t….

4 years ago we went to get fresh air. It was the first time I saw dad cry. The tears just wouldn’t fall. I couldn’t cry! One tear. Is that all? Surely a loyal person to Brookie would cry an ocean.

My mum has a blog all about her and her twin, Brookie. It’s pretty deep, so only read it if you think your ready. I f you want to find out more about my Aunty Brookie, check it out here:

True Story

How I am now on the Gut And Psychology Syndrome (GAPS) Diet.

I had gone on the Gut And Psychology Syndrome (GAPS) Diet when I was about two years old because I had eczema on my face. I hadn’t done it “properly”, I had only gone on it for like six months. When I was first on the GAPS Diet, I was actually going to fly to Germany for my Aunty, who had MND (Motor Neuron Disease). My mum has a blog about my aunty (her twin sister). My mum’s blog is pretty deep, so only read it if you think you can handle it. You can learn more about it here:

Before I went on the GAPS Diet, I was intolerant to eggs, lactose and soy. My mum tried to keep me moderately healthy. At the end of the week, I always cheated, having foods with eggs, lactose and soy in it, not knowing what it could be doing to my gut. My mum had bad eczema on her leg and behind her knees. She was desperate to find a cure for her eczema; it was driving her mad and she wasnt getting any sleep because she spent all night scratching. She didn’t want to “band-aid” her eczema. She researched all possible natural ways of curing it. She had the book “Gut and Psychology Syndrome” that she had bought when I last went on the GAPS Diet. She decided to go on it on the day after New Year’s day, 2018. One day I was looking at Gut and Psychology Syndrome. I thought it might benefit me, so I decided to go on it too. I am glad that I went on it. On New Year’s day, 2018, we had our cousins over to celebrate the new year. It was the last time I had corn chips, potatoes, packet gravy and chocolate boxed cake. The next day it was a bit of a shock to the system. Stage 1 of the GAPS Diet. Only soup to eat. No chips, no potatoes, no cake. Just soup. For the next few days all I ate was chicken and vegetable soup and watched my favourite TV show all day. Then, in a few more days, my mum thought that we were ready to move onto stage 2. That meant we could add egg yolks to our soup. Mum started getting creative and making different soups, like pumpkin soup and meatball soup. I was a little nervous trying egg yolks in my soup, because I had been told I was intolerant to it, but I was fine. Next was stage 3. It was so much better. Avocado, eggs gently fried or scrambled or boiled, pancakes made with pumpkin, eggs and a little bit of honey, and almond butter. Mum made yummy Russian custard, with egg yolks whipped with a little honey, then frozen into little icy-poles. We could also have cooked vegetables, so no more soup! In stage 4, you could have roasted or baked meat, olive oil, freshly-pressed juices and bread made with nut and seed flours. Stage 5. Spices, Cooked apples, raw vegetables and fruit as a juice ingredient. I made apple sauce a lot. I mixed it with a little 24 hour yogurt, yum! Now stage 6, nearly on to full GAPS. Raw fruits (like non-starchy fruit eg. apples, berries, very ripe bananas with brown spots on them, all GAPS legal fruit) and more honey. My mum had gotten a dehydrator as a present from my dad. She started dehydrating fruit to make dried fruit. It was so delicious! We were finally full GAPS. This is the list of all GAPS legal foods:

You might notice that Cacao powder is not on the ALLOWED foods list but it is allowed. If you want to know more about it just do some research on it. My brother decided to go on GAPS because he thought that all the food looked more “yum” than the normal food he was eating and he wanted to be healthy. Now I am still on the full GAPS Diet. My mum, brother and I have actually just introduced potato, sweet potato and tapioca starch. We also hadn’t introduced cheese yet, but now we have and it is soooo good! We are basiclly half-paleo half-GAPS (plus potatoes). There is a website about introducing potatoes and more, look at it below:

For over 2 years I’ve been on it. I feel like my anxiety has gotten better and more manageable then before I started the GAPS Diet, I will write more about it in other post(s). When I first started, all my friends were like, I feel so sorry for you. It was a shock when I told them I chose to go on it myself. The GAPS Diet is a very healing diet. I would definitely recommend going on the GAPS Diet.

True Story

A little bird.

Yesterday at about 6:30pm this little bird came out onto the path where we were walking, waddled in front of us and then towards a house. We watched it, thinking how cute it was and thought that we could just continue walking. We were wrong. As we were walking off, two or three magpies started swooping it and attacking it. We couldn’t let it be attacked like that. We ran over to the little bird being attacked by the magpies and made them go away. My mum picked it up to carry it away from the magpies, but it kept pecking her. She dropped it quickly because it was pecking so much. It just sat there for a while. After about three minutes we thought it was safe to go again. But no, we thought, what if the magpies come again? It wasn’t that far from where the bird got attacked before, that the little bird now stood, not even knowing how much danger it was in. Then, it waddled onto my brother’s bikes wheels. We thought it was cute, but after pictures were taken, we needed to get it off somehow. We gently tilted the bike up, hoping that the tiny, little bird would fall off gently. Once the bike was fully upright, the bird simply hopped up on top of the wheel and cleaned itself. Next we rolled the wheel back so it gently lowered the bird to the ground. The bird knew better. When we rolled the wheel back, it walked up, stopped for a second to peck the wheel and continued walking up to the top of the wheel. The second time we did this, the bird fell off and we guided it towards where we found it. Hopefully the mother finds it soon.
